Matchmove
recently i have been trying my hand at Matchmoving. Which is the combining of 3D with real footage. Turns out its harder than it seems. Especially when the products needed are around £3000. Luckily though i found a free non-commercial software called Icarus. Combining it with Cinema 4D and compositing it in Apple Shake i was able to produce this small demo below.
MTV – Music
We felt that it was important to establish the music we were going to use from the start as the visuals would end up being a direct result from the song itself.
Artist – As I Lay Dying
Song – Departed
Album – An Ocean Between Us

MTV logo – Ice Shader and Global Illumination
This was rendered using an ice shader i created in cinema 4D and rendered with global illumination on.
MTV Logo – HDRI/DOF
During the process of learning Cinema 4D i have started to advance in different techniques. Using the MTV logo as a base, during this pro project i have tested out a variety of different rendering methods and 3D shaders.
Below is an image using HDRI lighting and depth of field.
Wind Physics
It has taken a while but i think i might of managed to work out physics for paper blowing in the wind. This is just part of many things we wish to add to add realism to our projects. See below.
Ink Man
Have spent the a while now trying to model the figure that will be used in our project. Here are images of what we have so far. I am currently working on the kinetics of this model so he can be animated for thfinal piece.
Building 02
Here is part of the second building i am currently working on. I have not really had that much experience modelling and i am proud of what i am currently achieving.
MTV – Idea
We have come up with an idea of using an urban environment. The environment will include a figure (the ‘Virus’) and visuals will follow the idea of him (People) infecteing the land and area around him. we have decided to try and generate the whole thing in 3D, incorparating 2D visuals into the compositing process.
Software we will be using include:
Maxon Cinema 4D - http://www.maxon.net/ – for 3D
Adobe After Effects - www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/ – for 2D
Apple Shake - www.apple.com/shake/ – for Compositing
