Touch Type?

May 7, 2008 at 6:41 pm (Cool Shit)

Looks normal, right? Look at your own keyboard… notice anything different? Okay, maybe you don’t. But try actually typing on this and it all becomes far too apparent. The whole of the bottom row of letters (Z, X, C…) is one too far to the right. The Z should be below and between A and S, not S and D.

You’re looking at a brand new Dell Vostro 1310, ordered the day after its released, and delivered on 30th April 2008 in the UK.

They keys are all there. Shift, \|, Z, X… its just that the left shift is too big, forcing everything over too far. The Z has to be between the A and S… look on ANY other keyboard and that’s where it sits. This is not a US/UK layout issue, just a general monumental flaw.

Matchmove

May 7, 2008 at 4:08 pm (MTV - Professional Project)

recently i have been trying my hand at Matchmoving. Which is the combining of 3D with real footage. Turns out its harder than it seems. Especially when the products needed are around £3000. Luckily though i found a free non-commercial software called Icarus. Combining it with Cinema 4D and compositing it in Apple Shake i was able to produce this small demo below.

MTV – Music

May 6, 2008 at 6:17 pm (MTV - Professional Project)

We felt that it was important to establish the music we were going to use from the start as the visuals would end up being a direct result from the song itself.

Below is an image using HDRI lighting and depth of field.

Songbird

May 6, 2008 at 5:51 pm (Cool Shit)

Whilst on the net i stumbled across a new open-source browser called song bird. It is trying to incorporate the next generation of music and web together in one tight little package. So far my experience with it has been great. I have even started to use iTunes less. please go to http://www.songbirdnest.com/ Below is a brief description.

Songbird is a desktop media player mashed-up with the Web.Songbird is committed to playing the music you want, from the sites you want, on the devices you want, challenging the conventions of discovery, purchase, consumption and organization of music on the Internet.

Songbird is a player and a platform. Like Firefox, Songbird is an open source, Open Web project built on the Mozilla platform. Songbird provides a public playground for Web media mash-ups by providing developers with both desktop and Web APIs, developer resources and fostering Open Web media standards, to wit, an Open Media Web.”

It has taken a while but i think i might of managed to work out physics for paper blowing in the wind. This is just part of many things we wish to add to add realism to our projects. See below.
